Nine to Know: From the Bill Chuck Files

  1. Zack Greinke leads the majors with nine scoreless starts; Kevin Siegrist and Javier Lopez lead all relievers with 51 scoreless appearances.
  2. In Jose Reyes’ career, he has played in 768 wins and 760 losses; he’s hit .324 in wins and .254 in losses.
  3. Free agent to-be Chris Davis leads the league with 145 whiffs, but he has also hit 34 homers and lead the league with 88 RBI this season and leads the majors with 146 homers since 2012.
  4. Corey Kluber, and David Price, Dallas Keuchel lead the majors with 20 games of at 100 pitches;  Jose Quintana and R.A. Dickey have 19 each.
  5. Since June 16, Xander Bogaerts has hit .341 with no homers in 50 games.
  6. Since the All-Star break, the Rockies starters have a 5.90 ERA and the Dodgers bullpen has a 6.03 ERA, each the worst in the majors.
  7. Wade Miley’s drop-off during a game is significant: the first time he faces a batter his BAA is .235 but the third time, his BAA is .302.*
  8. Since May 21, the Royals are 44-32 the only team above .500 in the AL Central; the Mets are 39-36, the only team above .500 in the NL East. The Pirates have the best record in baseball at 50-24, but only gained 2.5 games on the Cardinals. The Cubs went 44-31 and lost four  games to the Cards.
  9. Speaking of the Cardinals, they have the best team ERA at home (2.34) with a great record 44-17 to match. However, the A’s have the best AL ERA at home (2.97) but their record is a miserable 27-34.
